Silicone Foam Tapes are sometimes called silicone sponge tape because there 2 types of soft, compressible silicone used to make tapes. Silicone foam, refers to a carrier made from a liquid silicone. This material is typically softer than silicone sponge tape and supplied with an acrylic adhesive for use up to +325ºF (163ºC).
Silicone sponge is mixed in a roll mixer and is typically a little stiffer than the foam. The pore size tends to be smaller with the silicone sponge making the tape appear some what harder. Silicone sponge tape can be supplied with acrylic +325ºF (163ºC) or silicone +500ºF (260ºC) pressure sensitive adhesive.
